The Linz innovation hub invited the cybercheckers to a recording studio on 23 May 2024 - for a digital parents' evening!
The City of Linz has long recognised the importance of guiding children and young people through the diverse world of social media in times of crises, problematic and one-sided bubbles on platforms, violent content and much more!
Adults are often at a loss and don't know where to start when guiding children and young people through the world of social media without violating their privacy. No obstacle for the cybercheckers - we face these challenging questions from teaching staff, legal guardians and interested parties.
The approach of a digital parents' evening is innovative and ran smoothly thanks to the chat function and the wonderful equipment. The digital world offers many opportunities.
The focal points were:
- Children and young people and their current trends on social media paired with simple tips on how to deal with them - for teachers and parents
- How can we as adults, guardians or teachers deal with content on social media in a low-threshold way and without pointing a finger?
- How can social media even become a learning tool at home or at school?
